Surely many of you are familiar with the company: Taranto is one of the most important auto parts manufacturers in Latin America and, not least, Argentine-owned. In 2000 and 2005, they won the National Quality Award and proudly hold the honor of being the first Argentine company to win the Ibero-American Quality Award. With this background, they could have been satisfied! However, that's not the case. That's why, since August, we have begun a support process for the implementation of 5S and TPM with a view to winning the Deming Prize (created in 1950 in honor of Edward Deming and originally conceived only for Japanese companies).
What is behind this decision?
- A clear awareness that it is always possible to improve.
- The firm desire to commit all levels of the company to these achievements.
- The certainty that excellence generates, in addition to deep personal satisfaction, excellent economic results.
The road ahead will be long. The initial cleanup with red tagging took place in November. An event of enormous significance because:
- It is the culmination of the first stage of training
- It is also the beginning of the real activity at GEMBA: the place where things happen.
Congratulations to the people of Taranto. We are delighted to be with you in this challenge.
