Setting goals

Companies often fail to achieve expected results because employees and middle managers lack clarity about the goals. Commitment and encouragement are needed.
While conducting a goal-setting seminar for a group of middle managers, a trainer was looking for a way to demonstrate how each person reacts when given goals. “Your task is to throw as many pieces of paper as you can into that trash can,” he told one of the young volunteers. Feeling embarrassed, the young man complied, and very slowly began to roll up the sheets of paper and throw them into the trash can.
